Soooooooo, I got in touch with these breeders. Recently we got one of their pups, not even 2 years old yet, who is completely out of hand. I called them merely out of courtesy to see how they would like me to handle the situation, them being the breeder of the dog. Now, please understand that rarely is there a dog that I refuse to put up with, having dealt with over 200 English Bulldogs in the past 2 years I have officially concluded that this dog is completely nutso! After day 1 at my house, he has since been boarding at my vet. He's been there for the past 9 days. I can NOT have this one dog disturb the harmony in my house because his owners choose to keep him outside in the Florida heat and not socialize him or train him in any way, shape, or form. We have been paying (with $$ we do not have) for him to stay at our vet. Well, our vet neutered him yesterday but I don't think that's going to do much to calm him down. Needless to say, when I told his breeder I just neutered him, he didn't want him back because he now "had no use for him." I offered them their dog back. They gave a few excuses of why they couldn't take him back. (Whatever!) So I asked them for monetary compensation for the amount of $$$ our rescue has spent on his dog..... dead end there too. More excuses. Then I told him what I viewed on his website: "We are proud to announce the anticipation of a new litter of puppies from Bo and Gidget. This upcoming litter should be available in the next few weeks!" He admitted that the pups arrived yesterday, but that he was selling them on his website for his mom. ?!?!?!?!? You know me... I'm willing to ask whatever, no matter how uncomfy it makes me feel for the benefit of my rescue dogs. I am their voice, I speak for them and have no shame! I asked him how willing his mom would be to give him some $$ from the proceeds of one of the pups to help pay for the care and rehab of his dog that we now had in our rescue - he laughed!!!! He laughed!! He said his mom was on a fixed income and breeding bullies was what she did to make money! Yes, I promise he said it just like that!! Soooooo... I take that as a "no."
I am fed up!!! Irresponsible breeders and puppy mills suck!!!!!!!!!!!! My volunteers and I devote our lives to saving bulldogs in need while breeders continue to breed them without a care just to make $$$$. It's their bulldogs we are saving, yet irresponsible, uneducated, unknowledgeable "buyers" are only feeding into the cycle! Do your research people!!!! Don't breed and buy while shelter pets DIE! Dogs are suffering, that's the bottom line. People have to stop buying from BYBs and pet shops or they will continue to thrive. Why are we, as rescuers wasting our time, our resources, our lives to clean up the messes that breeders and irresponsible pet owners make? This makes us sick!!! SICK!!!! ~Erica

Stimpy, Frodo, Kira, Bonnie

Posted October 1, 2009 10:22 am

The "dog room" floor at Mommie Erica's house is being renovated. We are having tiles installed and are ripping up the bull-ti-full hardwood floors so as of yesterday all dogs needed to be evacuated. It feels so wierd.... I have no dogs at my house besides my own 3! Thank you so much to our current foster homes that are helping take care of the program dogs, as well as those that have stepped forward to take on a 2nd bullie for the next week or so! Now for our daily updates! Stimpy got neutered and had his cherry eye surgery yesterday, he's recovering well!

Frodo is still recovering from the booboo on his face, but remains happy!

(Above left) One of our newer girls, Kira is adjusting well in rescue. Every day she's getting more comfy and is learning to trust. While Bonnie, almost fully recovered from her spay, goes to live with Mommie Trish for a few days. She joins foster sissy Priscilla who is now ready for adoption and is currently seeking her furever home!

More about Dopey....

Posted September 29, 2009 9:18 pm

Dopey is a very active baby boy that likes to stay up all night and party instead of going to sleep like the rest of the world! Although, he's having a blast in rescue, we can hardly keep up with him! He was dropped of at the vet this morning to be neutered and he'll be spending a few days at the vet until we pick him up :)

A little rant: STOP THE FRIGGIN' CYCLE! By making that impulse purchase and buying a cute little pup from the pet store, you are only promoting the cycle! Stop the cycle. And by the way, reputable breeders WILL NOT ship/fly their bulldogs or sell their puppies to a pet store! They should be interviewing you as the purchaser, as much as you are interviewing them. Many sellers only care if your cash is green.... run far far away!!!! Do your research prior to getting a pet - it's a LIFELONG commitment! Don't breed and buy while shelter pets die!!! Please take a stand, be a voice for the animals that don't have one! Spread the word, share this link and our site!

Yesterday we welcomed Kira, Today we welcome Dopey!

And tomorrow we all go crazy ~ (like we aren't already!) Shhhhhhh!

And Winston III is pending adoption with his foster family! Yea!!!

Terrier Mix litter & Habinero

Posted September 27, 2009 11:44 am

Last month Adopt-A-Bull rescued a Momma Terrier mix and her litter of 4 pups from the pound. Yesterday the final pup was adopted! All four pups and momma have been placed in awesome loving homes. Congrats to all the pups and their forever homes!

Habinero was an unexpected rescue.... we were down at the pound and came across this little Shih Tzu mix and his legal time was up. Initally found as a stray and unclaimed by his owner, Habi was sitting at the shelter without any interested adopters or even a rescue hold. A red sign on his kennel door read "Ready to Go!" (A clear indicator that if he didn't "go" soon, as in get adopted or rescued, he'd surely be gone fast, as in put to sleep.) Needless to say, we couldn't leave him there so he soon joined the bullie pack! Here's Habi on his way home from the shelter:

This morning mommie Erica woke up, noticing Habi had become quite overgrown with hair, decided to try her hand at her first grooming attempt. Here's the final product:
