Name: KALA
Estimated Age: Young
Adoption Status: This dog is is available for Adoption!
Brief Description:
8-19-12 - Kala is offically ready for adoption! Hi, I'm Kala! I'm a little white shmooshie lover! I love a belly rub, but only when I'm laying on my side. I love to play with my kitty brother Mr. Maigi. You could say we have a love/play relationship. Sometimes we cuddle and sometimes we chase each other. I don't really care about the outside kitties as long as they don't run away from me, cause then I think they want me to chase them and that's super-fun. I'm crate-trained and sit perfectly still for my eye drops and fold cleaning. My absolute favorite things are naps on my bed and luvins from my foster-humans. They're very well behaved and give me luvins on command. I don't even have to give them treats anymore! I do like toys, especially stuffies, but only when my humans are playing like they want to take them away. I like long walks in the grass and sniffing everything along the way. I'm looking for a furever family that's very lovey-dovey and hands-on. I will take care of you very well. I will follow you everywhere to make sure you're okay and not doggy-luvin deprived. I will tolerate a bath if I must, but be prepared to run around the house with me cause I get a serious case of crazy-frisky afterwards! My foster-family say something like "good good girl" a whole lot and I'm guessing that means I'm doing my job because they seem really happy. Are you my perfect match?! We will only know if we try it and see. Get in touch with my humans quick before I'm whisked away to some other deserving furever family!!
Intake Info: A picture is worth 1,000 words as they say. I have a few more to add...this baby girl, KALA, is at our local high-kill shelter and we are getting her today. She came in with an open wound on her hind leg as well as a lump that was expressed. While they had her under anesthesia to treat her wounds they attempted to correct her cherry eyes only to run out of suture material! This baby is (obviously) in very rough shape so she will be going directly to our vet for immediate treatments. To make a donation for her upcoming huge vet bills please go to the top of this page for our PayPal link. Thank you in advance for your generosity and prayers; Kala desperately needs both.
7-31-12 Update: Our poor, sweet KALA!! She has had 3 cherry eye surgeries including having the gland removed altogether and she still looks like this. So far her vet bills have been almost $2,000, and now it's the waiting game. She will be in a cone for a while, but our vet is confident that she will be better once her eyes have healed. She is very sweet and all she wants to do is play with her foster sister KIMMY. As you can see they are very close.
Name: Luella
Estimated Age: 16-18 months
Adoption Status: This dog is is available for Adoption!
Brief Description:
Luella is sweet as pie and so well behaved! She is an attention hog and would do best in a home where she can get all the love! She is very playful since she's so young so a home with older children is best. Luella is fantastic with cats and loves to help groom them with her tongue :) Though she does try to sneak up on the couch when Bijon gets her riled up, she is a GREAT leash walker. She waits patiently to have her leash put on and follows well on her walks. She has REALLY taken to foster daddy Steve and love love loves belly rubs! She snores constantly and wakes herself up when she burps! Too cute!! Luella entered AaBR and the shelter we rescued her from together with Bijorn, but after evaluation over the past 6 weeks, it appears they would do best being adopted separately.
Name: BIJON
Estimated Age: Young
Adoption Status: This dog is is available for Adoption!
Brief Description:
Welcome to rescue BIJON and LUELLA!!! These two came into the shelter together, but after evaluation over the past 6 weeks, it appears they would do best being adopted separately.
Bijon has a true bullie personality and draws plenty of attention from the neighbors because he's such a big boy! He doesn't seem to like the grass much - he always comes back to the sidewalk and prefers to poop in my neighbors' driveway (eek! - we are working on it)! We were told at the vet that he gets nervous around men but he has shown no hesitation to Steve (foster Daddy) since he's gotten home! He finds the back of my knees to be delicious!!!
10-13-12 UPDATE: "So the driveway pooper has won us over! I will forever remember the look on Steve's face when Bijon took his first drink of water in our home - utter disgust. Slobber and drool everywhere! Now it looks like you'll have to pry him out of his arms when it's time for him to go to his furever home. He is so sweet and such a gentle giant! We seem to have to have two general responses when he's out with us - "wow that's a big boy!" or people asking to use him as a breeder dog (Lucky for him, I get to say "he's fixed, and 'get a job, loser.')! He has taken so well to housebreaking and has not gone potty in the house after the second day! He's just a big bullie boy that wants to be loved, and we do - we LOVE him!"
Name: MANGO
Estimated Age: Young
Adoption Status: This dog is is available for Adoption!
Brief Description:
On Monday Mango donated a little more blood for another round of tests. He is heartworm positive. :( When he has been on his current antibiotics for a month, the doctors will consider starting heartworm treatment. Mango's right ear was treated with a EKT Ear Antibiotic. This is a one-time, lasts two weeks, treatment. His right ear is so badly infected, and swollen, the regular ear drops weren't reaching deep enough. He has had previous trauma to that ear, including an ear hematoma. This was not treated, so his right ear "curls" a little and has thickening in the tissue. There is a small growth (cycst) on the outside of the ear, which will be dealt with later. Although Mango urinates a lot and drinks a lot of water, the protein in is urine is still high. Also, there are white and red blood cells. He may have a kidney issue, or this may resolve itself, in time. He has a very low magnesium count. We will begin supplements for this. The Ciprofloxacin antibiotic eye drops are working well. The antibiotic he is on currently is Doxy 250mg twice daily. He is underweight so his food will be increased. The good news is, he is happy, content, relaxed and loved dearly!
